An access code is an optional feature that helps participants return to a poll they've already voted in, especially if they switch devices or clear their browser cookies.
You’ll need an access code if you initially received a general poll link and you added yourself to it without providing your email address, and later you try to access the same poll from a different device or browser. If the poll doesn’t recognize you, the access code is your way of updating your votes.
However, there are plenty of scenarios where you won’t need an access code:
When you visit a poll for the first time from a general link you can create and save an access code. You can make it as long or short as you like. And if you happen to forget it, don't worry, the poll organizer can reset it and send you a new one. Below are screenshots showing what to expect when using an access code.

If the guest list is hidden in the poll you’ll have to add both your name and access code for the poll to recognize you:
